About Mrs. Murphy

Hello! I am excited to be joining the 8th Grade team this year!

I am originally from Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University (Go Wildcats!) with a Bachelors of Science in Biology.  While attending KSU, I worked at Sunset Zoological Park as an Education Instructor and Assistant Zoo Keeper.  After graduating, I moved to Seattle and continued my role as Education Instructor at Woodland Park Zoo part-time. I also volunteered in the Day/Reptile House and the Orangutan House.  The other part of my time working was spent as a Veterinary Technician. In 2009, I continued my education and received my Masters in Arts and Teaching at Seattle Pacific University and have been teaching at the middle school level for the past 10 years. I have taught both science and robotics before coming to Owasso Public Schools.

After being in the Seattle area for 15 years, my family and I moved to Owasso this summer so that we could be closer to family here in the area. I live at home with my husband, two children (daughter-4 years and son-18 months), cat, and two ball pythons.  In my spare time I love to go fishing, bird watching and paddle boarding. I have also started exploring astrophotography.

I am excited to be your student’s science teacher this year. It is going to be a great year!
