WOW!  What a start.  We started learning DAY 2!  That's incredible.  I send out a link to this newsletter anytime I post a new one.  I try to keep you updated throughout the year, usually once per month.  We are currently benchmarking in grammar, vocabulary, and reading skills. We will then flow into a project titled "Stages".  Students will analyze a Shakespeare poem along with a video piece to create this project.  Shortly after kicking off that project, we will read The Outsiders as a way to "upload" a variety of grammar, writing, and reading skills which will be used for rest of the year at an intense level.  The Outsiders, although not complex in text level, deals with some issues teens face and has strong ties to Owasso/Tulsa area and also provides a good attention grabber for our students.  The remainder of the quarter will focus on continued grammar, critical reading, and narrative writing.

For those of you that completed the form to request updates in Google Classroom, those were uploaded today.  When you get the invite, you may want to change the notices to daily in your settings.  This will allow you to see daily posts created by the teacher.  Since I added you to my class, you'll automatically be added to all your child's classes.  If you didn't get an invite, go to my home page and click on the link at the bottom of the page.

I look forward to providing the best instruction I can throughout the year.  I'm always an email away at  It is with great pride that I serve your child each and every day.  I love being here and am excited each day.  During certain times, students may require a firmer guide than at other times.  They are teens, they'll test me.  During those times, if they arise, I look forward to your partnership in helping your student be the best version of themselves.  My motto is simple - "Shine so brighlty that the stars get embarrassed."  I think it's fitting for each of us.
God Bless,
Mrs. Brothers

I am so excited to have your family as part of my classroom family.  In here, we talk about things and work together.  Conflict is obsolete.  We just work through obstacles. Welcome to the family.  More information is to come soon.
Blessed to be in your life,
Mrs. Julie Brothers
