Bell Work/Notes/Daily Assignments

These are posted daily in Google Classroom along with what we did in class that day. Each day you enter the classroom, read and immediately begin your Bell Work for the day.  The quote or prompt will appear on the board and in Google Classroom in the same location (Classroom post) every day. These are a fun way to begin class and get your mind into class mode, and they let me see that you are present in class and ready to begin.  Sometimes they might be as easy and fun as "Would you rather have a pet unicorn or a dragon, and why?"  This assignment will evolve as your writing skills evolve.  It is your responsibility to get to class on time so you can finish in the first 2-3 minutes of class.  If you do not finish, it is your responsibility to complete it later.  I will help you establish this routine, do not worry.

Always remember to check Google Classroom on days you are absent or completing your classwork at a later time.  Bell work helps me encourage you to write every day, and is a way for you to learn some fun things about one another!

NoRedInk

We use an online grammar program that makes grammar as painless and fun as it can be!  The program is NoRedInk, and you can use it anywhere you have an internet connection.  Your NoRedInk log in will be through Google Classroom, so there is no extra username and password to remember.

Readworks

We often use Readworks.org as a place to practice critical thinking and reading skills as well as test taking skills.  Your Readworks login will be through Google Classroom, so there is no extra password or username to remember.

Vocabulary.com

The Language Arts department uses Vocabulary.com for our focused and contextual vocabulary instruction, and I think you will find it to be a great resource.  Your log in will be through Google Classroom, so there is no extra password or username to remember.

EdPuzzle

EdPuzzle is another resource we sometimes use in this class, and is something I will introduce to you later in the year.  You will use your Google Classroom log in to sign in, so there is no extra password or username to remember.

Pearson Textbook

The Language Arts textbook is available online and can be accessed through your PowerSchool.  There is no extra password or username to remember, and I will show you how to access this textbook in class.  We do not use this textbook daily, but it is another resource you will use from time to time.
