Dear Owasso Public Schools Community,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as your new Superintendent. I am truly honored to continue in the role as Superintendent in a school district and community that values academic excellence. Such commitment to excellence comes in part from Owasso’s strong community spirit, where citizens are proud of their youth and show great support for the district’s programs and educational initiatives.
I raised my family in Owasso, and this is where I started my career in education as a Geometry teacher, coach, and assistant principal. I most recently served as assistant superintendent for three years and have been serving as interim superintendent since the beginning of the spring semester. Owasso Public Schools has an outstanding reputation across the state of Oklahoma as a district with a strong academic focus and a supportive community. Even with the district's many strengths, this transition of leadership presents an opportunity for positive change and for the district to be even better in the coming years. I am looking forward to the work ahead.
Part of this work includes a 100-day plan, which can be found here. This plan incorporates specific areas of focus with explicit action items separated into two phases. The areas of focus are culture, organizational excellence, connection with stakeholders, academic excellence, innovation, school bond, and strategic planning. All action items will serve as the blueprint to move Owasso Public Schools forward and set the district up for success for years to come.
As an educator for over 20 years, I wholeheartedly value the programs and services in place, and I am committed to building upon past practices to ensure that current and future students have opportunities to explore their interests and find their true passions.
Please know that it is my intent to make every effort to foster a culture of connection, collaboration, and transparency to ensure the continued success of our students, schools and community.
